The first weekend away!
Drove to Yea and stayed at Riverside caravan park. Took an hour to get there. It was a lovely drive
- $40 a night for 2 people
- we were on site No 50 (Kerrie and Ross were on 49)
- Arrived at 1.45
The offices were super clean and tidy (puppy sleeping in his bed, dog-friendly park) THe girl was very friendly.
check-in was 2 and checkout was 10 am
we were able to drive through the site which was great (the people behind us hadn’t arrived yet)
we worked out where to put ourselves on the site, all grass and dirt, no concrete pad
hooked ourselves up to water in and out and power without any trouble. slow draining sink can be caused by pipe slightly uphill. Was still slow to drain but not too bad. Maybe next time will just use bucket
water pipe stayed on, no problems.
put the annex roof up. didn’t worry about sides. Used our awesome camp chairs (Christmas gift from girls and families)
The bathrooms were very clean and remained that way the whole time we were there. The drinking water wasn’t the best (too chlorine for me)
we bought water the next day for drinking.
Great location, about 5-minute walk to the main street. Great food works supermarket. Nice cafes and little shops to look at.
Didn’t use the swimming pool or any other facilities but they looked nice, looked clean
nice trees around the site. Dirt at front of the van was a bit annoying, lucky we had some mats (need a better one)
lots of permanent vans they didn’t look great. Beautiful grassed area for power-free camping.
We had a lovely time. Spent most of our time sitting under Kerrie and ROss’s awning eating, drinking, talking crap and laughing
Pack up was pretty quick on the Sunday morning. There’s a few things I think I need for the van (toothbrushes & paste, some other toiletries that can stay in the van, zip lock bags, sink drainer for washing up)
Need to look and see if we have a hot water unit in the van.
Next time use the portaloo – maybe get an ensuite tent for outside
magnetic hooks for towels – outside. look into privacy screen for front and side
Rate – 3 (clean facilities, no code needed. lots of ugly permanent vans, easy walk to town, friendly clean main office, very nice looking cabins) (Kerrie and Ross thought the sites could have been nicer with grass rather than dirt )
